Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) Blocks YouTube and Blogger!

Service Providers all over the Pakistan have started blocking www.youtube.com, one of the most prominent websites on the Internet.

Most ISPs in Pakistan do not have the infrastructure for blocking URLs in place so the IP Address of Youtube.com has been blocked.

The move is said to be due to Blasphemous material on Youtube.com. (!)

And as I just checked Blogger.com appears to be blocked as well as traces to blogger.com are being dropped at PTCL ITI and TWA1 gateways.

i don't think so it is due to blasphemous material on youtube, because if it need to be blocked then there should be blocked Wiki pedia first, that blasphemous comes on that site first, i think the main reason is that, Corruption in election video uploaded on Youtube which is against the Pakistan Govt. i think you must elaborate this point in your blog as well.

Pakistan is a third world country ruled by people who have no public mandate. When we don't trust someone, we view everything that someone does with suspicion. Surely, the order of the blocking youtube.com was malafide. I cannot comment on the Vote Rigging since all Political parties seem to be ok with the results by and large, a few constituencies aside. BTW, Vote rigging is also done in places like the US. Pregnant Chads anyone? :-) Google for DIEBOLD voting machine
